Request letter of possession

Have your supporting information ready

Tell us where the land is, how you came into possession and which authority requested the letter. Provide any written request from the authority and any supporting property documents you have.

These may include a survey diagram, property tax records, a sale agreement, a deed or estate documents. The attorney will identify any further information needed for your circumstances.

What the letter can do

A letter may form part of the supporting documents for an application. It does not create ownership, replace a registered title or give permission to build. The relevant authority decides what evidence it needs and whether to approve the application.

Where someone else owns the land, the authority may require their authorisation. We assess suitability before preparing a letter.
